Vital Signs for Hyper-V Server for Hyper-V

After yesterday’s big announcement by Veeam, another management tool vendor Savision (known for Live Maps in System Center Operations Manager and Configuration Manager) releases a major management tool for Hyper-V.

Here’s a copy of Savision’s announcement today:

Real-time Performance Troubleshooting for Microsoft’s Private Cloud

Virtualization is ubiquitous. More companies than ever are virtualizing major workloads into Microsoft’s Private Cloud solution built atop Hyper-V Server. Mission critical applications rely on the performance of this virtualized solution. Hyper-V is complex and changes dynamically. Manually diagnosing, troubleshooting and resolving Hyper-V performance problems is nearly impossible.

Without a real-time view into both the Hyper- V server’s and its virtualized hosts’ health, configuration changes, dynamic re-allocations, IT Pros are left frustrated when trying to resolve problems. Vital Signs for Hyper-V is the answer. With its real-time performance, configuration, event views and informative graphical interface designed by Hyper-V experts, you are able to immediately identify performance problems, visually correlate significant events and configuration changes to immediately start resolving problems.

Proactive Management for Dynamic Clouds

Vital Signs provides early-warming of potential problems for workloads delivered on Windows Hyper-V. Understanding how virtual hosts are using compute resources – CPU, memory, disk, network – is critical to ensuring that the physical host is optimized for mission-critical application delivery. By coupling historic and real-time data, IT Pros are able to see impending performance problems up to an hour before end-users are affected.

Real-time Performance Data

Vital Signs instantly displays dozens of real-time performance graphs that allow IT Pros to determine the health of all virtualized hosts on a Windows Hyper-V server. Drilling in further to a virtual host, IT Pros may remotely determine its CPU, network, memory, disk throughput and storage utilization in up-to-the-second interactive performance charts.

No New Infrastructure Footprint

Vital Signs for Microsoft’s Private Cloud can use an IT departments existing system management infrastructure, such as System Center Operations Manager. Vital Signs collects everything remotely from its agentless architecture. IT Pros may access Vital Signs from any web browser that support Silverlight 4.

Self-Calibrating Performance Thresholds

Vital Signs displays what is considered normal performance based on its calibration period. Vital Signs automatically calibrates thresholds based on past performance of the Hyper-V host, thereby eliminating any human guesswork. Threshold alerts visually indicate impending performance problems up to one hour before an outage.
